Huge amounts of data, also known as „big data“, are leading to problems of maintainance and manageability for people. Interactive displays like displaywalls offer more rendering space, but interaction with data remains complicated. Mobile devices of our every day life, such as smartphones or tablets, seem to be useful tools in the case of interacting with these amounts of data on a displaywall. This paper uses this problem as an opportunity to search for new interaction techniques which emerge out of the combination of mobile devices and a displaywall. New concepts were developed based on knowledge gathered from prior art in the scope of device pairing, data transfer and navigation and exploration in information spaces, which was always done with respect to user guidance and continous feedback. Subsequent a prototype was developed based on the elaborated concepts. Besides this thesis there will be even more potential for further development in the field of mobile devices and interactive display walls.
