Data Protection Policy

1 General policies

With the exception of those listed in sections 2-5, no data is collected about visitors to the pages which may allow conclusions to be drawn about a natural person.

If personal data is collected within this website (e.g. registrations), an informed, comprehensive and transparent consent is always requested in advance and in each individual case.

We have taken all necessary and appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure that the data protection regulations within the Chair of Multimedia Technology can be observed. Should it nevertheless be the opinion that the right to protection of personal data has been violated by the Chair of Multimedia Technology, please contact us. In addition, the data protection officer of the TU Dresden or the Saxon data protection officer serve as a complaints office.

We would like to point out that data transmission, in particular by e-mail, via the Internet is currently essentially unsecured. It is possible that transmitted data can be intercepted and possibly even manipulated by unauthorized parties.

2 Actively transmitted data

When accessing the pages in the internal area and all other contents protected by login, personal data (e-mail address, user name, password) are processed by the Chair of Multimedia Technology or the Technical University of Dresden. However, this only happens with the prior explicit consent of the members of the closed user groups (members, relatives and guests of the TU Dresden) and only for the purposes of authenticating the respective users.

For users who register on our website, we also store the personal information that they provide in their user profiles.

We also store data that you voluntarily provide to us after submitting a declaration of intent for the purpose of storage and processing. This applies to files such as media, text files, source code and more that you upload to our server. We point out that you are responsible for the content of these files, in particular any personal data contained therein.

3 Cookies

To facilitate the use of our website, we use “cookies”. Cookies are small text files that your browser can place on your computer’s hard drive and are helpful for using our website. You can set your Internet browser to prevent cookies from being stored on your hard drive or to ask you each time whether you agree to the setting of cookies. Once cookies have been set, you can delete them at any time. You can find out how this works in detail in the help pages of your browser. The website informs visitors on their first visit that cookies are being stored.

4 Automatically collected technical data

The web server stores technical data (log data) such as the name of the retrieved file, date and time of the retrieval, whether the retrieval was successful, the browser used and the operating system used for maintenance and monitoring purposes. IP addresses are not stored.

5 Embedded content from other websites

This website may contain embedded content (e.g. videos, images, contributions, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if the visitor had visited the other website.

These websites may collect information about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking services and record your interaction with embedded content, including your interaction with the embedded content, if you have an account and are logged in to this website.

6 Sharing of data

The data transmitted to us will not be transferred to third parties unless we are legally obliged to do so. Files that you actively and voluntarily upload to the server (Section 2) may be made available to other visitors to this website or to a certain number of registered users.

7 Duration of storage

When you write comments or upload files, they are stored indefinitely, including metadata.

All users can view, change or delete their personal information at any time (the user name cannot be changed). Website administrators can also view and modify this information.

8 Your rights

If the Chair of Multimedia Technology processes personal data via this website, each person concerned may at any time request information about the data processed about his person and the possible recipients of this data to whom it was transmitted. Information must be provided by the Chair of Multimedia Technology one month after receipt of the request for information.

If you have an account on this website or have written comments, you can request an export of your personal data from us, including any data you have provided to us. In addition, you can request the deletion of all personal data that we have stored about you. This does not include the data that we have to keep for administrative, legal or security reasons.
